Z15 dropped to two working boards after a summer heat spike

A representative Antminer Z15 hashboard repair, board architecture: 3× BM1746 "Black Rhino" chips in a serial chain, 0.78 V core, VDDIO 1.8 V / VDDPLL 0.7 V.

Reported symptom
Hashrate fell by roughly one third. The dashboard showed one hashboard with a short chip count and a temperature field stuck at Temp NG / 0°C after a run of hot days.
On-bench diagnosis
On the test fixture the chip chain broke partway down the board: the 0.85 V clock (XIN) reached chip 1, but the data signal (CO, normally 1.6–1.8 V) died mid-chain and the 0.78 V core rail sagged on that domain. Thermal imaging highlighted one BM1746 running cold (no current draw); the on-board temperature sensor read 0°C.
Root cause
Thermal-cycling fatigue had cracked the BGA solder joints under one BM1746 chip, breaking the serial data chain, and had also killed the temperature-sensor chip on the same board. The power-management IC for that domain tested healthy.
The repair
We removed and reballed/replaced the failed BM1746 with a genuine Bitmain chip using a controlled BGA profile, reflowed the temperature sensor, then re-verified the rails: 0.78 V core, VDDIO 1.8 V, VDDPLL 0.7 V, and the 3.3 V / 5 V supplies. The power controller was re-checked (Bitmain PMICs allow only a limited number of programming cycles, so we program conservatively).
Outcome
All three boards returned to full chip count and hashrate. The unit passed a 24-hour full-load burn-in with a healthy temperature curve before shipping back.
